Claudia Skoda

CLAUDIA SKODA

is recognized as a significant fashion designer and networker of her time. Her work combines fashion, music, visual arts, performing arts, photography, and film, creating consistently new and surprising connections between various cultural trends.

For decades, Skoda has been creating and living her fashion in Berlin: in her Kreuzberg living and working community "fabrikneu", at cultural and museum locations such as the former Egyptian Museum in Charlottenburg, the Congress Hall, and the Martin-Gropius-Bau, as well as in her stores on Ku'damm, Linienstraße, Alte Schönhauser, and Mulackstraße, and now in a private studio in Berlin-Mitte.

Since 1975, Claudia Skoda has been producing two collections per year. She draws inspiration from self-set themes such as "Mobil", "Fruits", or "Cleaning" to create new forms, color combinations, patterns, material mixes, and techniques. Skoda redefines knitting, seeking individual solutions that sometimes involve welding two knitting machines together. She selects high-quality and exclusive yarns from Italy, and when not experimenting with materials like tape, bast, or metal threads, she produces in small batches herself or collaborates with home knitters from Berlin or nearby areas.
